Football's top committee plans the championship Mayor's Cup

While the Mayor's Boardroom filled with stakeholders, football was already hard at work. The top members of the football committee held a special planning meeting for the Mayor's Cup 2026, gathering in a circle in the open air of the municipal premises, with a map of Mukono Municipality on display behind them.

Football in focus

Football is one of the four sports of the championship, and the one many people think of first when they hear the words Mayor's Cup. The Head of Football Leagues in Mukono Municipality was among the leaders at the stakeholder engagement, where team managers, coaches and coordinators discussed preparations for the tournament.

Planning from the map up

Every league has the same pieces to put in place: the teams, the draw, the fixtures, the venues and the match officials. Having the municipality's map in the room is a reminder that the Mayor's Cup belongs to all nine wards, and that the competition has to work for each of them.

  • Season opens Friday 6 November 2026.
  • Match days Every Friday.
  • Season closes 1 January 2027.
Behind every Friday kick-off is a room full of people who planned for it.

Football teams from the wards and community groups are encouraged to register early so that they are included in the draw.
